A Fresh Reinstall

After trying to figure out why some comments on my site failed to show up on my blog, I decided a new install of WordPress might do the trick. We’ll see how that goes, but for now I have to edit some of the code to get things looking like they used to. Watch for poorly behaving PHP and CSS, each with its own set of problems.

    I thought I’d leave a note and see what happens (it’s now 22 May, 5.37pm BST…). :)

Thanks Sharon. For some reason my comments have moved to the right. Just something else to fix. What fun.

Try looking in a different browser. It might all be lovely. (Well, you probably read me tearing my hair out over the IE/Firefox issues the other week.)… Oh, no, same in IE. Oh well.

Oh, and by way of a further test, I’ll put in a couple of links. Let’s see what happens. (Will it go into moderation, or won’t it, or will it disappear altogether again…?) Isn’t it exciting?

I have a hold on comments with more than 3 links, but I’ll probably raise that to about 10, since I myself end up putting lots of links in my comments.

The problem I seemed to have was with comment spam filtration with the Kitty’s Spaminator plugin. After the reinstall things seem to be working smoothly, but I’m not sure if there’s a better spam plugin out there. What do you use?

Still using Spaminator, but the 1.5 version (no longer available, sadly); will probably be changing this summer, though. But I can tell you from experience, *don’t* try to use the older versions of spaminator with the new version of WP. Not good.
